ARiSE Coffee Roasters and ARiSE Coffee Entangle are two of my favorite coffee spots in Tokyo. They have a certain charm that can’t be reproduced. A combination of chaos and care. I guess I’m a sucker for that stuff–You can be serious about a craft without taking yourself too seriously.
Recently ARiSE Coffee Roaster’s owner, Hayahshi Taiju, has been spending a lot of time in Thailand. He sees a lot of potential for specialty coffee in Asia, and is doing his best to help cultivate this. By giving feedback to producers and buying the top quality crops, farmers are encouraged produce specialty coffee rather than filler. ARiSE often has several offerings from around Asia, including Thailand and the Philippines, in house.
