Onibus Coffee is perhaps Tokyo’s most popular specialty coffee group. In previous articles we’ve visited Onibus Nakameguro, About Life Coffee Brewers, and Ratio Coffee & Cycle, but have neglected the original cafe: Okusawa.

Okusawa is a sleepy Tokyo town with train tracks running through its heart. There isn’t much sightseeing to do for the casual visitor, but coffee lovers will be excited to find a whole-in-the-wall cafe will busloads of character. This tiny shop not only houses a full coffee bar and some cozy seating, but a 5kg Diedrich Roaster too!

Onibus started out as a hub for the Okusawa community; a place where real people could get real coffee. The operation has grown quickly, but this little store keeps pulling quality shots and carefully roasting beans. If you love coffee, design, or just want to see where the dream started, this spot is worth the trip.
