There once was a cafe tucked away in the backstreets of Shibuya ward called Omotesando Koffee. This little shop, built inside a traditional Japanese home, grew into a popular coffee destination. Visitors from far and near would go out of their way to hunt down this tiny shop and soak in its unique atmosphere. Omotesando Koffee, however, was not long for this world and closed in 2015.
Other Omotesando Koffee shops have sprung up around the globe, but the original had left a gaping hole in Tokyo’s heart. Fortunately the shop was reborn as Koffee Mameya.
Featuring tens of coffees from a large selection of roasters in a variety of styles, Koffee Mameya brings the Omotesando brand to a new level. Amazingly streamline in design, this shop cuts out all sensory distractions. Approach a barista, select a coffee, choose how you’d like it prepared, and enjoy. Even the name, Koffee Mameya, is simple, translating to Koffee Bean Store.
Small in space, and simple in design, this cafe is an ode to coffee and cubism. Efficient, stylish, and arresting; it is a perfect fit for the fashionable streets of Omotesando.
